Genpets - bioengineered buddies

Go and have a look at the website genpets.com and you’ll find out that these little ugly guys are mass produced bio-engineered pets. Each comes pre-packaged as a fully self-contained unit in sort of a hibernation condition. They are available in 7 different personality types and are delivered with a fresh strip and heart monitor. You can spend ages on the website but will not find out much more. There’s no video clip or explanation if these things can talk, walk or whatever.
After doing some Google-ing I found the website of the artist Adam Brandejs who’s behind all of this. It certainly makes you think differently about bio-engineering when you see a whole wall of these guys. And considering the professional website that came with the installation in a store in Canada this would confuse quite a few people including myself.
AOL relaunches Netscape

We’re about to experience the birth of another Digg-like user-driven news site only this time with some serious backup from AOL. The site will soon move over to the netscape.com URL and meet there about 800m page views that Netscape already generates per month. And some sites will get into serious bandwidth trouble once their stories make it up on the ladder.
