Looking for the best Australian developers

We just launched the DevSta Challenge 2008, a competition to engage the community as part of the overall marketing activities for Microsoft’s Visual Studio 2008. So if you’re a developer and live in Oz, sign-up now and make sure you’re ready once the brief gets released. If you’re good then you might be going to Vegas.

Spore Evolution

Nice street art execution for EA’s Spore game. The campaign site features a link through to Google Maps so I suppose it’s not virtual but for real. So if you live in Brussels go an check it out. Courtesy of ADN.

ICTs and the open universe

Associate Professor and Head of School, Communication and Media at Bond University in Queensland, Dr. Jeffrey E. Brand’s presentation about the role of new media and gaming in today’s communication landscape, held at our McCann Take-Away event last Friday. What a sentence. I should try to reformulate that but can’t be bothered. Anyway. Watch this. Peace out.

Microsoft launches Photosynth

Microsoft’s long awaited Photosynth finally became public today. Now you can create 3D environments based on your pictures. Unfortunately the thing doesn’t work on my Mac here so I’ll properly check it out at work tomorrow:

Unfortunately, we’re not cool enough to run on your OS yet. We really wish we had a version of Photosynth that worked cross platform, but for now it only runs on Windows.
