4. Nowdays, they are made of carbon fiber. When I pole-vaulted in the early 80’s, mine was made of fiberglass. Man…I can really feel for this guy. I did that once and my pole flexed back and flipped me heels-over-head backwards and onto our cinder track surface (can you say cinder-suds…ouch!)
