The guy who used to own the Strand Theater in Ocean Beach — a beach community of San Diego — had concerts on the weekends and had some great shows over the years. One of the best I ever saw was Dire Straits approximately three weeks after Sultans of Swing hit numero uno on the FM charts in the U.S. The theater owner had booked them on a whim about eight months before the song was released and paid a whopping $600.00(US) to put them in the Strand. Needless to say, they absolutely rocked the standing room only crowd of 800.

Of such things are history made.
